Did you know where Cavite City is in Cavite? Oftentimes, when people ask me where I live, I tell them that I live in Cavite City but most of them ask me again "Where in Cavite?" and it goes on and on and on. In this blog, we are going to talk about one of the cities in Cavite and it is one of the most history rich in the province namely, Cavite City.

Cavite City was the capital of Cavite before Trece Martires City. The geographical location of it benefited the locals because of its seaports which was the main reason why many Chinese business men visited the place, being near Manila, and its great strategic position, that is why there were military bases of Americans during the war. For those reasons, the city became prosperous.

Inside Cavite, there's Samonte park which was built by the first governor of Cavite during the commonwealth – Governor Ramon Samonte.

In Samonte Park, you will be able to see the Monument of Julian Felipe – a Filipino composer of the music of the Philippine national anthem – who is a very important person to the locals because he was born in Cavite Nuevo which is now called Cavite City.

Before reaching Samonte Park, you will need to pass by the sea wall. It is advisable to walk rather than staying inside the vehicle to actually experience walking on a brick road that is older than most of us.

The city of Cavite is also very rich in culture, especially Spanish culture. The local used Chavacano - a Spanish-esque dialect - before. Now only a few of them do but there's still a lot of folks who uses it but not on a daily basis. That's why there is no surprise that one of the oldest church in the province is located in here - the San Roque Church.
